Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bicycle Magazine Top Rated 2009 Race Bikes

The June 2009 issue of Bicycle Magazine has the following 2009 Editors' Choice Race Bike for 2009 and the runners-Up.
Editors' Choice: Pinarello Prince
Runners Up: Cervelo S3 and Wilier Cento Uno

As luck would have it I ordered the 2009 Prince 2 weeks ago in the color scheme shown in the article, Prince of Spain Red. Basically it is white and red, with limited black accents. I got it on sale in Europe at a great price.

ahh, jeez. You're back again?

You realize Bicycling is the least objective source you could go to, short of the actual manufacturer themselves?

And for us mere mortals, would buying these bikes help in our race performance?

I have my serious doubts...

Doesn't sound like you're describing the "Prince of Spain" paint job... I'd check with your shop because I'm pretty sure if they ordered a "Prince of Spain" for you, you'll be walking into this:

Selling an '08 Madone 6.5?

Do you buy a brand new $10K bike every year based on good press? You're a marketing guy's wet dream!

And by the way, those Pinys are ugly. They look like they've melted.

Gita, Pinarello's US importer, lists 9 color choices. 10 if you count the limited edition Prince of Spain scheme.

Oh, and I've seen the Valverde version in person- it's actually a hot looking bike. I'd never want one, but they're not as ugly in person as you'd think, IMO.

Those wheel stickers are easily the stupidest stickers I've ever seen on a bike.

Does someone who buys a $10,000 bike every year called a Fred? Just wondering.

Pinarello totally screwed the pooch on that one, for sure. That, and the "Most" name- what's wrong with using "Pinarello" if they wanted to rebrand? They should have stuck with "Bob" for the whole line... couldn't be any worse.

The Bora's look very, very nice, OTOH.

Agreed. I've never been a big fan of Most components. And yes, the Boras are still some of the hottest-looking wheels in existence.

You're so right. Without exception, every time.

BTW, it appears Pinarello will be releasing a $200 frame specifically for them, in the most gorgeous shade of green...
