Does this exist?! Normal pedals with SPD-SL fitting?
I use SPD-SL on my bike, but now and again I'll cycle to a friends or somewhere and do not want to take my cycling shoes. Can I get a toe clip / pedal with a cleat on it that i can clip onto my bike so i can ride in normal shoes. I have seen them in my local Veldrome, but cant find any online, anywhere!
Can anyone help me?
Thanks
Dan

They're found commonly on indoor cycles (the ones used for spinning classes)

There should be cheaper options though.

Just use a pedal with a decent sized platform, like the Looks or SPD-SL. You can pedal on them in tennis shoes, just using them like platforms. I do it all the time, works fine. That's how I commute to class and around campus and stuff.

Is SPD-SL different from regular SPD? If not, these pedals have an SPD socket on one side, and platform teeth on the other:

They have different bolt patterns as well, so you can't necessarily use them on the same shoes, unless they happen to have holes for both.

Here's a DIY way to add straps to SPD-SL pedals:

I have SPD-SL's and it's fine to pedal on them with regular shoes as long as you're not out of saddle. They really don't have much grip on them. I've tried climbing out of saddle with them wearing regular shoes and slipped and my crotch met the top tube...not cool at all.

Back when I was talking with my LBS about going clipless in the first place, I asked a couple of the guys about using regular shoes on SPD-SL and Look pedals. They said they do it fairly often, even riding to work with flip-flops as long as they stay careful about it.
