Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sensible CAAD upgrade.

I don't care about how puncture resistant a tire is. So I went with a pair of Michelin Pro 3 Race.

Pros: Good acceleration with low roll resistance. Great panic stopping ability. Superb cornering and handling.

Cons: Gives a hard ride in the seat after 90 min or so.

Rael's rating: 5 out of 5 floor pumps.

What size are they? What pressure are you riding them? How heavy are you? I weigh about 165 right now and ride 23mm PR2's. I keep the rear at about 105 and the front about 98 (between 95 and 100) and I haven't ever pinch flatted and find the ride pretty nice. I'm looking forward to when these wear out; I'm going to buy a similar tire (PR3 probably) in a 25 and expect an even more comfortable ride.

You'll care when you burn through two tires from gashes in under 200 mi, or maybe that's just me. Now I only use those things to race on.

23c

100 1bs front and rear.

145 lbs

Although I would have preferred 20c , these really have a nice precise feel.

The Pro3 is a nice tire, and I raced and trained on em last year, but I've been won over by the Conti GP4000S. It really is better in every way.

Keep that in mind when, you know, your pro3's spontaneously combust sometime in the next 200 miles.

I've only heard bad things about longevity of these tires. Especially if you aren't strictly racing on 'em.

I could write a book on punctures. Michelins on Durex rims is how I learned to cuss.

Not to be a dick but you sort of did you said you wouldn't care if you burned through a tire that costs $50-60 everywhere but PBK in 200 miles. Whatever it's your cash have fun on em'.

I was implying that I'm not going to "burn" through 2 tires in two hundred miles.

lol it's not them wearing down that people are complaining about, it's the fact that they seem to gash right through the casing very quickly.
