Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Wish me luck!

well I am about to tear myself away from BF.net and go to the shed and prepare my bike for today. And also get myself phsyced up and ready. Today is my first 40km TT, it is the local club's TT champs you see. Good thing is there might be enough wind to stop my rich competitors from using their fastest wheels....might be on a more even par that way!

Bike setup:
Cervelo Soloist
Bottle cages mounted behind seat
Ritchey Prologue Clip-on aerobars
Velomax Vista 30mm wheels, with Michelin Pro-race.

The race of truth. Results to come.

yes. I am no stranger to that! I am keeping well hydrated before the race.

Oh yeah I am back here cause I need the therapy....went to pump up tyres and broke the valve on the tube off. The bastard who stole my saddle bag has my adaptor to use the compressor and my tyre levers, so I went to the LBS and got some new levers, an adaptor and put the new tube in. Thankfully it's less than a 4km round trip!

Might as well say how I went (forgot about this thread)

Came 5th. Out of 7 in my grade....one of which was DQd..... and it was only 20km, with many hills, and lots of wind. 34mins.

Not bad considering you were racing against those "rich competitors" and the wind picked up.
Was this your first TT. Was it cold/cool since you are in the midst of winter down there? Did that affect your performance?
