Good Deal? 2008 Cannondale CAAD9-5 for $850 USD?
hello folks,
my first post here on the forum. i'm just getting into road cycling and am looking for my first road bike. my budget is under $1000 and after researching online and visiting all my LBS's... i have come across (what i think) is a good deal in a brand new 2008 Cannondale CAAD9-5 Triple for $850 USD. good deal? yes, no? it's the last one left at the store... in a 58cm, which is exactly my size. so it's calling my name. i just need a gentle push from you guys to answer that call. =)
specs here: https://www.cannondale.com/bikes/08/c...el-8RA95T.html
they have a CAAD9-6 at the shop too but i thought i'd spend the extra dough for the 105 components. i was hoping to get a matte black bike but this aluminum look is growing on me.
thanks for the info. i'll be lurking around here for awhile me thinks.

Great deal. If you're fine with the old paint scheme then jump on it.

That's an outstanding deal, if you're looking for a CAAD9. My local Cannondale dealer wants $1400 (retail) for their last CAAD9-5. There's no way I'd pay almost double just to get the newer paint scheme.

If I had come across that at MY LBS when I was buying my 09 CAAD9-5 that would have been gone soooooooooooooo fast. Buy it. Love it. Go RIGHT now and do it. Call them and tell them you're coming. Give them your credit card number now.

are you in the bay area? I actually got my 52cm 08' caad9-6 for $850 from a LBS about 2 months ago. Might be the same shop. But $850 for a 9-5 is an amazing deal, even for my 6 I thought I got a great deal.

bought it!
skipped outta the office early today just so i could beat traffic and get the R5 (you guys made me paranoid that i'd miss out on this deal!) thanks for all the advice people. i'm actually in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. thanks for confirming with me that it was a good price... i posted the price in US currency on purpose to throw all you wanna-be ****blockers off =) . i picked it up for $1000 CAD flat which converts to almost $850 USD. i also got some Shimano pedals which match the bike quite nicely i think.
i'm pretty thorough (aka: anal) when it comes to big purchases like this. trying not to rush into things, i did my research and learned the basics very quickly in the process. i visited almost every LBS here in my city and i found this bike in one of the smaller ones that specialize mostly in mountain bikes and cyclocross bikes. i was lucky to find the rare road bikes they bring in every once and awhile. the staff at the shop are friendly and knowledgeable and i can see myself frequenting their store in the future and feel confident they will be able to service my bike well. after all the time, effort and money spent looking for the "right" bike i have a good feeling i made the right choice for me.
(p.s. they also have a 2008 CAAD9-6 58cm as well for a little cheaper. great deal on that one too! if you're in Calgary and wanna know where... holla!)
