input please
Hi i am actually new to biking and i want some professional input into which bike to get as my first bike.
I was looking at the '08 Cannondale Six13 6 Triple which is selling for $999.99 at my LBS but i also notice that a lot of the people here on this fourm live by the CAAD 9s The CAAD 9 5 but it is a bit expensive for me and i was wondering how does it compare to the CAAD 9 6 , trek 2.1, trek 1.5, or the specialize allez? thanks for your input. Ps: i use this bike to commute from and to work and hope to enjoy it on the way. |
there is no real difference between CAAD9 5 and 6. It' the frame you want.

Ask Pcad if the Six 13's any good. |
Many people here have confirmed that the CAAD9 frame is extremely well-made and is worth the investment. Cannondale packages their bikes depending on price point, but the quality of the frames remain the same. The Specialized Allez has also received high accolades here.
If you don't have a lot of money right now, you can buy the lowest-end CAAD9 or Specialized Allez and upgrade as funds become available. This is generally applicable with any frame, but some are made better for this purpose than others. With that note, I don't recommend the Trek 1.5, as it commands a high price for low-end equipment at best. I recommend the Giant OCR, as it is quick and responsive on flats and a pretty good climber. It's a bit flexy, though. Great for commuting. |
