Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I crushed souls today

Out on the bike trail. I passed some old gray haired guy and I turned around a few minuets latter and there he was again. He then can flying past me and put about a 50' gap on me, then turned around to see where I was at. He saw he had not got very far so he then got down in an aero tuck. We then encountered a long 3% grade and he just getting slower and slower. This whole time I have just continued along at my pace. I finally just rode right past him. About 5 miles latter I stopped to make an adjustment to my saddle and he came up about a minuet later mumbling something like this

blah blah blah about 75mph blah blah blah

I just laughed like I knew what he said. I also hit and killed a squirrel.

I just wanted everyone to know that I was the winner!!! And I wasn't really trying to race with this guy, but he sure was interested in beating me. I just thought it was funny.

For even more challenge, you might want to try shooting carp in a barrel.

Next time turn on your camcorder, jam your pump in his spokes a la Breaking Away, upload the recording to YouTube, and make sure his wife and kids are able to see you humiliate him in style.

You never know. That hill is only a 3% 1000' long grade but that is probably actually harder than Mt. Doom.
