PI shorts a little rough?

I've got some PI shorts that are about 3 years old now. Last night I noticed that the chamois (blue pad) was getting kinda rough and my heinder is a bit abraded this morning.

Noticed while shopping for new shorts today that the PI's all seem to have a texture that I didn't find in other brands.

Have others noticed this same thing? Any comments on whether the newer or higher-end PI shorts are decent?

I haven't had that problem with my Attack shorts after about 3 years (they get used once or twice a week) but they have never been as comfy as better brands, either.

Close, but incorrect.

I keep hearing you and your Assos ass saying that, but I've found some that would make PI seem like sitting on a cloud. Fox for starters, but yes they're all cheaper than PI as well.

my ass is currently caressed by a nalini chamois.

not nearly as nice as assos, but it's what the team is on.

I had a pair by them. Nothing special if you ask me (on par with the PI as far as I'm concerned) but after a little over a year, they wore so thin that you could see through the stretched parts, so they went in the circular file.

edit: Not that your team couldn't do worse, though. Last year my team was on Pactimo, which the owner swore was top grade stuff. They had a whole world of problems from the chamois to the seams. I am quite happy with the LG stuff, though. Kind of expensive, but not as bad as Assos.

who said they were special? certainly not me. guess that's what you get when you pay $50 for a pair of bibs.

My team last year made us pay I think $75 for Pactimo sandpaper... I mean bibs.

Honestly, the high-end PI shorts are not that much cheaper than Assos FI.Uno's. Take the plunge, you'll be happy you did.

PI shorts do chafe mnore than others. I never needed chamois cream before, but if I'm going more than a couple of hours in the PI's, I do.
