Absolutely. No comparison.

By the way, VERY few 18% stretches on any road are more than a few hundred meters long. The longest steep stretch on my road probably averages 13-15% and is about 250-300 meters in length.

I did the Mountains of Misery ride yesterday which finishes with a 3 mile long, 11.9% average grade. Plenty of people had to get off to finish. I made it, but just barely. Had to resort to the "serpentine" technique in a few places.

I would have been prepared to walk if I needed to, but today I'm sure glad I didn't :p
