Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Just a simple thank you to our Armed Forces posters

Just wanted to extend a thanks to any of our posters in here who serve in the armed forces, I know there are a few. The sacrifices you, your families and everyone before you have made, allow us the simple pleasure of riding down a quiet street on our bikes with a feeling of safety and security.

A week ago. I'd like to think, though, that Hawkeye just got promoted.

This thread needs to be moved to November. Today is about the dead, not the living. Respect.

I don't think anyone meant any disrespect here. We all appreciate the sacrifices men and women have made for us.

A good point, but these days to serve is to know the fallen...

MAJ Mark Taylor, fellow general surgeon. RIP.

COL Brian Allgood, Army orthopedic surgeon. RIP.

MAJ John Pryor, fellow general surgeon. RIP.

Unfortunately I've lost count of the soldiers I've helped care for who succumbed to their wounds. RIP and thank you to them and their families for the ultimate sacrifice.

This isn't a dictatorship Doc. The post that has disappeared didn't have anything in it that was against the terms of use. He was just stating his opinion, something that should be welcomed in an open forum. If posts such as his aren't welcome in this thread, perhaps this isn't the correct forum for this thread.

No dictatorship here. There was agreement at the admin level that the posts were disruptive and disrespectful in the context of the thread. Feel free to PM me or an admin if you have any other questions.

As someone who drives by Fort Snelling National Cemetery about 4 times in a given week, I look out over the 180,000 plus white stones and literally get a lump in my throat every time. When younger, I was too stupid and immature to serve my time when I could have. I don't have many regrets in my life, but that's one of them. I wish I could go back in time and change that one aspect of my life.

I have the utmost respect and admiration for all those, living and passed, who have done what I wish I would have. Thanks to you all from a most grateful American.
