Catastrophic Quad Failure

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Catastrophic Quad Failure

Today I was so busted that by the end of the ride I simply could not get out of the saddle - my quads could not support my weight and were nothing more than quivering masses of goo. It's been 2 hours since I got off the bike. I have my laptop on my lap and the screen is moving up and down because I am having a giant quadspasm (the big Q).

Is this normal, or do I just need to HTFU?

When I was a rower that happened to the one of the guys on my boat in the last 50 meters of a race. Sometimes too much effort is a bad thing.

You wanna be a man? Puke on the fly and keep going. Only then have you gone hard enough.

Didnt you just recently rip your scrotum on the saddle? A little quad exhaustion seems like nothing compared to that..........
