Best/Worst song to buy the farm to
YACC (no, you Unix weenies, it's "yet another close call") today; teen driver at an intersection
Appropriately enough, the song on the iPod at the time was "Highway to Hell" near the end of he song and, after swerving to avoid the impact, I distinctly remember the lyrics: I'm on my way to the promised land I'm on the highway to hell And I'm going down, all the way down So, this brings up the question - If you had to buy the farm on a ride, which song would be the best/worst to do it to? *** Note: This is NOT intended to be another should I/shouldn't I iPod-while-riding thread and NO - my encounter today would NOT have been any less dangerous had I been sans iPod. *** |
What the hell bro.... you were listening to an ipod while riding your bike? Don't you know that makes the baby jesus cry!!!! :D
About 2 months ago I was rounding a corner onto the one way street that runs infront of my building, while listening to The Smiths' "There is a light that never goes out", at the chorus of "If a 10 ton truck crashes in to us" sure enough there was a D-Bag in a truck driving the wrong way up the street, missed him by about 6 inches. |
Best: Comfortably Numb
Worst: Hell's Bells |
the bustaguad song.
|
Botto,
You are one sick little puppy! |
Queen: Another One Bites the Dust
|
Best: Black Flag - The Process of Weeding Out
Worst: Black Flag - The Process of Weeding Out Side A and B in both cases. |
|
Worst: Dope: Die MF Die ( http://www.lyricsreg.com/lyrics/dope/Die+Mf+Die/ )
Best: Stairway to Heaven DG |
Best: Don't Fear the Reaper
Worst: Kenny G. Any song. I'd just really hate for him to be the last thing I ever heard, pretty sure I'd rather take the buds out and just listen to my own skull cracking. |
I love you Botto, and I'm not even gay. |
Worst: anything disco
Best: no such thing, but if I had to choose I might take Bloodrock's D.O.A. I haven't heard that song in over 35 years. |
Best: On the Transmigration of Souls by John Adams (listening to it makes me want to die)
Worst: I Believe I Can Fly by R Kelly (listening to it also makes me want to die, but the lyrics don't fit) |

I'm a John Adams fan (did I really just say that?) and once played Harmonium as part of a symphony orchestera, though I can't remember if we did the whole piece or some movements. Yup, pretty surprised I'm talking about this on BF... |

I'd hoped we'd get a Charles Ives reference in this thread, but I had no idea it would be so roundabout. What are you, a music teacher? :p

Yup, pretty surprised I'm talking about this on BF... A long time ago I heard "Harmonielehre" performed by the Jacksonville SO in Gainesville, FL. It was one of the greatest performances I have ever heard anywhere by any group. You could see the musicians on the stage getting more and more excited as the piece progressed because what they knew they were part of something very special. To my amazement the entire crowd rose to their feet with thunderous applause at the end. Usually that crowd would complain about anything written after 1900. |

Best: Rancid Last One to Die: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSqStkFtzGQ |
I'm afraid to click any of the YT links for fear of being RickRolled.
OP, almost buying the farm to Highway to Hell is bad karma. You better void that soon! |
