I don't think the king is quite dead yet. PBK's prices have gone up in some areas (Ultegra cassettes seem to be ridiculously expensive for some reason); however the two things I'm looking at at the moment (Dura-Ace pedals and Chorus 11spd compact crank) are both WAY cheaper than chainreaction, and both are in stock.
And don't forget you get another 5% off the displayed PBK price just by typing in AUSRBR or USARBR or whatever when you do the order.

Botto is correct. They probably bought stock in when the pound was high. Now the pound is really low against the EURO (and pretty low against the dollar too), meaning that anything that they now buy in is more expensive. Should have bought stuff a few months ago... Ooops.

What's incorrect about it? The exchange rate was 1.39 now it's 1.64? It's part of it with out a doubt. PBK dropped the 10% off for awhile but it's back now.
incorrect.

I was/am a fan of PBK, their stock has dwindled and shipping seems to take a bit longer lately. I did receive a nice set of veloflex tires recently followed by a new cc and letter from my cc company stating my account info may have been stolen from an online retailer. Not sure if it was PBK or not.

You should have seen the prices in March (when the GBP was weak to the dollar)... It was glorious.

I'm considering purchasing a wheelset from either ChainReactionCycles or TotalCycling. What is your experience with delivery times. Prices are close enough that I'd prefer to go with the more reliable site and the quicker delivery time. Thanks

Chain Reaction Cycles
Wiggle
Reasons *:
- They have stuff in stock between the two of them
- Accept PayPal
- Faster shipping than PBK
*All of this is negated if the USD goes to crap.

My last PBK order (tires and clothes) took 4 days to ship to me. For free. From Britain.

Just got a new Centaur 10sp cassette from PBK for ~$60, delivered. Used my B of A Visa, and employed the free "shopsafe" service that generates a one-time use ephemeral card number.
Arrived in 5 days to CA, no fraud worries. Wish they had my tires in stock.
