Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Quarq Shout Out

This shout out goes to Mieke over at Quarq who just floored me with their superior customer service.

Memorial day: Monday afternoon, I sent an e-mail over to Quarq letting them know I had an issue with my Cinqo. Not expecting an answer, I checked my e-mail about an hour later and lo and behold an e-mail was waiting. Over the next 30 minutes we went through some troubleshooting and figured the unit had to be returned. Mieke e-mails me a fedex label.

Tuesday: I ship the unit to South Dakota.

Friday: I get my Cinqo back.

The Cinqo functions perfectly now and I am totally thrilled. I know I'm not the only one who had this awesome experience with Quarq. A buddy of mine who's a racer needed his back before the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic- and she's taking care of him too. I am so happy that I purchased a great product from an awesome company- another buddy of mine also had a chance to meet Jim and Mieke at Interbike and mentioned that they are two really phenomenal people.

It's so rare that a company goes above and beyond like they did- so much so that I felt compelled to share this!

Thanks Mieke, Jim!

Same deal here. I had an issue that had to be sent back. Mieke sends me a 2day Fedex slip and I ship out on monday. It arrived over there and fixed the issue and overnighted it back to me and I got it on Friday.

It was a rest week so I only missed two days w/o power.

As soon as I have the cash, the tri bike is getting a Cinqo and a Forerunner 310XT. This thread makes me feel even better about that eventual choice.

Good choice. I saw the 310XT on Saturday. REALLY cool. I like how it'll tell you when you are out of your zone. It's not too heavy at all. They were also selling them at the San Diego marathon and I heard that they either sold through all of them or most of them.

And yes, definitely good going with Quarq.

I too will post a Quarq panegyric when they finally release a spyder (in 110 BCD) for the Lightning Crank. My Campy UT will go to my second-best bike, and I'll have a power meter with no weight penalty.

Lightning crank..............................330 gm
Ceramic bearings.............................82 gm
TA Specialties 50T chainring..............71 gm
TA Specialties 34T chainring..............33 gm
Chainring bolts (5)...........................10 gm
Quarq Cinqo Saturn spyder...............155 gm
Total weight.................................681 gm

Campagnolo Record 10 Ultra Torque Crankset + BB = 648 + 56 = 704 gm

FSA Team Issue CinQo+Cranks, Chainrings, BB = 936g

SRM Wireless PowerMeter with Shimano Dura-Ace 10-speed compact ($3895.00) = 812 gm
