Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I wanted to share a few pics, but they don’t strictly belong here, because of the “empty” before “road ahead.” I’ll add them anyway.

Solitude spoiled only by one other rider and one car in the distance.

Here, my progress was delayed by some bison, just as I started down a fun, fast descent. I can’t complain, as it is their territory.

This one is devoid of all other road users, human and otherwise. Most people turn around at this point, myself included.

Aha! Thanks, I thought it looked familiar. I rode that back in 2003, during the TdF.

This is roughly 15 miles south of Hollister and maybe 10 miles from Calera, which is on Cienega Rd, which meets up with 25 maybe 5 miles north of where this pic was taken.
