Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Granted, it's a dirt road, but it's still pretty cool to ride Catalina Island's spine for miles with ocean on both sides of you, like you're straddling a gargantuan horse.

Not the best angle for showing the road/path, but you can still see it.

I wasn't riding back when I took these(2008 sometime). It's the road that leads to Rocky Butte State Park in Portland, OR. One of my best pictures I think.

Try going up to Eureka or into the Sierras. CA is too big of a place for a blanket statement like like that.

*not my picture, but have seen similar crap often. Not wanting to complain too much - there's actually some good improvement in cycling infrastructure.
