The road quality is pretty good compared to most descents that I do. The only bad part is that there are a lot of sharp turns on that highway with no guard rail, where you can plunge 500-1000 down into the river canyon feet if you go off the road. I try not to think about it too much on the descent.
There's access to the Tule River in several spots, looked pretty nice, I think I will check it out some time.
