Scott Speedster S40 - good choice?
Upgrading from a Nishiki Century Road bike, and I think i've made my final decision on a Scott Speedster S40. I've compared it to a Trek 1.2, Giant Defy 2, and Cannondale Synapse 7. I like it because it's very snappy, quick, comfortable saddle and has Taiga all around. On top of that, I can get it for 10% off it's $999.99 price tag, so for only $899. I'm not an all out bike guru, so before I spend the money i'm just looking for some opinions on this bike to make sure I won't regret my decision to pick it over the other bikes mentioned. Thanks for your help!

I liked the look of the frame...the weird top tube is different for an alum bargin bike. I like the color too.

I started on an S40. I paid ~$950, after taxes. This was about 2.5 yrs ago.
The only downside to the purchase were the wheels. Back then I was ~250lbs, the shop I bought them from didn't bother checking the tension and I ended up breaking spokes on the rear. I stuck with the frame, upgrading components, until a car collided with me and dented it. It was stiff as hell, I think a bit heavy compared to a CAAD. I thought and still think it's a good valued bike.

I have an 08 S40 and I love it. I looked at a Trek 1.2 last year and something about the Scott just seemed so much better when I rode it. I would never regret upgrading the components on it either. It has been a great comfortable bike for me, and I am far from in ideal biking shape.
Go For It!!!!

I also have a 08 S40 and can say only good things about it. Got it for a awesome price so really no other bike compared at the time. I would say the same applies for you, The Scott has better components than all others, a stiff and lively frame, and sexy looks.... Go for it..
