Tarmac Expert $2600

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Tarmac Expert $2600

After shopping around for the past month I came across a deal I couldn't pass up. My LBS here in Okinawa is selling me an '08 Specialized Tarmac Expert for $3000! That includes a full Ultegra SL group (crankset too). The frame has a small scratch and they took $100 bucks off for that. An I brought my own wheelset to be put on in place of the factory wheels, that took another $300 off the price! I'm picking it up Tuesday!

I think you could have gotten a little better deal, honestly. I bought my 2009 Tarmac expert for 2800 and that included the ultegra wheelset. Now I made a deal with my LBS and they credited me $500 for the Ultegra wheelset and I upgraded to Mavic Kysrium SL premiums for 500 more.

That being said enjoy your bike! I love mine!

True! Then I guess it's a good deal.

Bikes are priced right at MRSP over here it seems like. The LBS here is awesome though, great people and they are more than happy to help out where they can. Next up is a new wheel set. I'm looking at Williams 38mm carbon clinchers.

Not only Okinawa is in Japan but it's a tiny little island way down south = everything expensive just like Hawaii.

I also have an '09 Expert and love it. I paid $3,000 but I got it last October when they were very hard to find.

Did your wheelset have any miles on it when you traded them in? I like the deal you got.
