Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Help a brother out

I am in the market for a new road bike and some LBS have made me two great offers.
First, the Fuji Team RC 2008 for 2K (amazing deal). Secondly a Jamis Xenith Team 2008 for $2800.
Any recommendations? thoughts?

Have you taken them both for a quality test ride? Do they both fit comfortably? Do you like the color of one over the other?

Both ride and fit great. And both are similar in color.
I guess what my question should be is a Fuji vs Jamis carbon frame since all other specs are nearly identical!

Fuji has a much longer history of quality, but Jamis seems to have climbed the ranks quite quickly, including to the pro peloton. Both are great in my opinion. Which components do they have?

Dura-ace components. FSA SLK Light Crank.....only difference is Mavix Ksyrium Elite vs SL wheels
(I own a pair of Easton EA90SLX so wheelset is not an issue)

Well, it sounds to me like you could save $800, unless someone on here comes in proclaiming the awesomeness of the Xenith over the Fuji Team. Be patient as I'm only posting because I skipped my saturday ride. The real riders will be in here this evening if they have no life, and Monday morning otherwise.

Fuji has a lifetime frame warranty, they replaced my 4 year old frame with a small crack at the seatpost slit, with a nicer frame, at no cost other than a few phone calls and dealing with some lazy LBS employees that couldn't get around to mailing my frame after I completely removed all components.

Fuji's seeem to offer much more bike for the buck than the other "hot" brands. Also a guy I ride with has the Team RC frame and loves the bike....but the fit of the bike is more important than the brand.

If they are spec'ed that close to each other and knowing that Fuji is a strong brand with great customer service...unless you find the Jamis has a far superior ride, I'd save the $800 and go Fuji.

Thanks for the heads up and I appreciate all the feedback.
I currently ride a Fuji Roubaix RC so I am leaning towards the Team RC.
It is a lot of money for either so I want to take my time and make the right choice

My friend had a Kestrel (now owned by Fuji,) and they did not warranty his frame after it cracked calming that the seat post was to high. So, be careful with that.

Does Kestral have a stated max seatpost height?
