Denver Riders - Quick ????
Does anyone know the elevation gain from Confluence Park to Cherry Creek Res?
How about Confluence Park to Chatfield Res?
TIA

Reading elevations off Google Earth gives net gains of 365 ft to Cherry Creek and 250 ft to Chatfield.

Raising the Abyss
I'm always slower from Confluence heading south to Cherry Creek Res/Tech Center/Chatfield. I'd say mostly due to wind and slight elevation gain.

If you want accumulated climbing, it is more because you go up and over the dam and there are a few rollers. I don't have your exact stats, but my ride from my house on City Park to the reservoir (with a lap around the park), shows about 825' of total 'climbing' for the ride. That includes coming back up the hill on St. Paul too though.

It's a false flat with slight incline most of the way, AND there's almost always at least a bit of a headwind coming off the reservoir. FWIW, I usually loose 3-4 mph on the way back too, but it seems like that shouldn't be the case given how shallow that grade actually is. The only real elevation gain is the hill by Kennedy golf course and the dam itself.

On another note:
I just bought a 12-27 for the Triple bypass and the guy in the store was razzing me about it.
He was pretty funny though. I told him it was either a 27 or a compact then I asked him if he road a compact and his reply was "I'm a real man." Funny thing is, he was like 70.

Slight elevation gain shows up on my Garmin, and a bit of wind every time going away from Confluence. I'm staying away from both paths until cottonwoods and gnats ease up. Sweaty, cotton and gnat coated legs are nasty.
Funny, we probably all pass each other regularly.

Ain't that the truth.
I did my first metric century down at Elephant Rock two Sundays ago. After fighting my way up some of the climbs on that course, the little hills here in town just don't seem quite so intimidating.
Now I just need to up the training a bit more so I can go to the mountains and do some real climbing.

My "flat century" course is up to Ft Collins and back, and I still get 3000' of climbing in there.

Triple Bypass Registrations seem to be popping up on Craigslist daily.
This ride has 10,000+ feet of elevation gain.
Anyone else here riding it?

Yes. It is not that difficult of a ride.
I am more worried about a club ride I have coming up in a couple weeks. 125 miles with 12,000 feet of climbing. It is not the miles or climbing that has me concerned but the fact that I am heading out with the hammerheads.

I live in Thornton. A friend and I looped around Brighton and back for the most unexciting and flat routes in existence. At least I had good company. Not so sure about his company.

He, half the country seems to think Denver is in the mountains and cold and snowy all year. Let's confirm their misperception.
Oh, and Elephant Rock is considered a flat century in Colorado
Sorry, couldn't resist...

Fortunately, a lot of our climbs are not steep. Long, but not steep, and there is no place better to be on a sunny day
