You effing roadies are snobs...

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You effing roadies are snobs...

Let me set it up. I commuted in this morning on my P3. I was riding in the aero position and waved to several little groups of roadies and NONE of them waved back. SNOBS!

So then I'm thinking "I wonder if they think I'm a triathlete?"

Then I had other thoughts like "Hmmm I'm not a triathlete. But I'm not a roadie either. But I'm not your typical long distance rider either. Hmmm....what am I?"

I'm not your typical roadie because I wave at triathletes. I ride steel frames, wear wool, wear reflective gear and think going around in circles for 50 mins is boring and ...never mind. I shun most USCF racing because I can't stand the roadie testosterone attitude. Plus I just don't have the FT muscle fiber to contend for the sprint.

I'm not your typical brevet (long distance) rider because I embrace technology and ride a P3, a Powertap and even race wheels from time to time in my brevet events.. No handlebar bags, panniers or dyno hub lighting systems for me. I'm not your typical brevet rider because I race them (with others) even though brevets are not races--anymore that is (PBP started as a race many many years ago)

I'm not triathlete because I hate swimming. I go to the beach to check out the babes and let my 4 yr old play in the surf. I do love running though. My bike looks like a x-mas tree with all the reflective stuff on it. Oh and I actually clean my bike after every ride.

I guess I just love being on my bike and riding long.

hey Vireo

your high horse is tired of carrying you and your ego.

he wanted me to pass along that message as you didn't appear to hear him over the sound of your own voice.

Whenever I encounter snobby people, I usually just kick them in the nuts and or judo chop them in the throat.

Holy crap, that's a lot more depth than I was considering. I was just thinking of it in terms of pondering the significance of one's own existence.

Or was I?

Stuff a towel down their throat in the back of a stolen limo, let the towel start digesting and then rip it back out, bringing the digestive track with it. JB doesn't eff around with snobby people!!
