Garmin 705 Firmware 2.8 avail

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

thank you! Even now that I have that link, I can't figure out how one would find it on Garmin's site. I must be blind or something.

I've been reading of some reports of problems with 2.8, other than just morons not paying attention to the warnings of losing settings (the same as a hard reset). Unless you are having problems with corrupt data in 2.7 I would hold off on this.

Does anybody know if Garmin will remove zero averaging for cadence?I like it for the power readings, but not cadence. Is this being discussed at the goggle wattage group?

I'm a bit nervous to update after all the problems 2.7 caused

Anyone else find this one funny?

Not as far as I know...

Fwiw, I've defended garmin in the past but their current release really screwed the pooch. Indefensible as far as I'm concerned.

Interesting.

I ran a DOS CHKDSK on the Garmin drive and it had errors on it. Ran CHKDSK /f and it fixed the errors but zapped the GPX and History directories. I recreated those directories and ran the device, and it appears to be working fine and the filesystem is cleaned up.

Don't think there is a list yet... People are reporting issues with power display and averaging, and strange high values...

I just updated and now it saved my ride from yesterday but when I send to TC it didn't upload it. It is in .tcx format. I was getting some file errors but windows seemed to fix the errors.... How do you do a "hard reset"?

Press mode when you turn it on to reset. See my blog link in my sig for instructions on fixing corrupt tcx files.

+1. Unless there is some super cool new feature I'm not aware of with the upgrade?

Almost 7hrs in the saddle today with 2.8...no issues. Downloaded to Garmin Connect, Training Center and SportTracks. Didn't follow a workout or anything but looks ok so far with following a saved route.

5 hours of saddle time yesterday and 2.8 works fine now (no PM). All history data from the evil 2.7 era seems totally lost.
