Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

how many miles are you getting out of tires

just curious how many miles a set of tires should go. my bike has slick tires so it is hard to tell when they are worn out. just curious as to what kind of mileage before they need to be replaced. signs of wear?

Probably about 2,000 or so on the rear and maybe 3,000 to 4,000 on the front. You can tell when they are worn they are squared off where they meet the road instead of rounded.

1800-2300 but I climb a lot on rough roads. Got only 1800 on the rear with specialized AC pro (which I did not like) 2300 on the rear of a kenda kaliente, tires which I like a lot.

Signs of wear are cords showing, or in the case of the specialized, the remaining layer of rubber began to come off in chunks. Another sign of wear is lot of flats.

about 1500 miles, I prefer to replace a little early rather then deal with flats.
