Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So Versus will be broadcasting in HD, but will the TdF feed be in HD? I doubt it, but would love to see it happen.

Hmmmm, went to the writeup on the Versus web site, and it says:

"For the first time ever, each stage of the Tour will be produced in full HD."

That's still a bit ambiguous. Could very well mean that their production is HD, but not the feed.

I think it will. HD handhelds are almost ubiquitous in the industry now. Almost every sporting event I've seen in the last year has been in HD.

Hell, even Survivorman carries HD cameras with him.

TdF feed has been HD for about 3 years now on the other side of the pond.

Versus has been broadcasting some of the classics in HD this year. The difference is amazing.

I saw the 3 of them in HD for the Tour of California. It's amazing how much older they look. Makes you understand why every newscaster now looks like they've been airbrushed...they probably have.

For those of you who are new to Versus coverage, be sure to edit your DVR to quit an hour after Vs says it will end. Nothing worse than watch 3 hours of racing and missing the finish.

Sweet. Time to move the trainer in front of one of the TVs.

"Versus also will have a camera inside Garmin-Slipstream's team bus to give a view of the team's daily pre-stage meetings."

I only get television screen size envy this time of year. Normally, I don't mind old school small screen.
