Riding Partners - Montreal

Hello,

I just moved to Montreal (2 weeks ago) and was wondering if there is anyone in the area that wouldn't mind someone joining onto their ride.

I am looking for 2 or 3 (50 to 60km) rides during the week and longer rides on the weekends. I would say that I am an intermediate rider that is experienced in riding in large packs (75 -100+ riders) and can handle average speeds of 35km/hr.

Hi there,
Elaborate a bit on what distances you usually ride, race, speeds, number of riders in your past groups, skill level...

I used to live in Montreal. If you can get up to the Laurentians (1 hour drive north) there's unlimited, hilly cycling. Eastern townships are good too. I know there are other Montrealers on the forum, so hopefully they'll repsond.

The large rides are club rides such as Beaconsfield Cycling Club and are mostly off Island. Martin Swiss Cycles in Westmount has a Sat. morning ride and if you call the shop they will tell you the time.

I ride almost every day and I don't see rides bigger than 6-10 persons.

There is a Tuesday night crit race in Lachine and a Wednesday night race in Laval.

The best place I've found to ride is the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Formula One race track on Ille Notre Dame. It is a 2.6 mile circuit with excellent paving and the bikes are divided from the car traffic.

Also, next to the Olympic Rowing Basin is a 2.5km paved road that is smooth, dead flat and protected from wind by a berm. Great place to do intervals as the distances are marked out.

thanks everyone for the input. I tried Beaconsfield and CyclePops but was told that they are full for this year.

Have taken a couple of rides on the track (nice not to have to deal with Toronto traffic!!!!) and Mount Royal.
