Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Speak for yourself.

I think Chaz is the REAL DEAL, and his follow-up posts rate a sincere "Well Played" designation.

ROCK ON, Chaz!

This doesn't really count as personal information, but here's another post from the same guy, on an audio forum:

To answer your question correctly it would depend on who you are,& how you hear.

Beyond that even though MOST people don't hear below 20hz that doesn't mean that frequencies below 20hz aren't perceived by even the MOST average person. They're simply not heard.

A 18hz BagEnd will LITTERLY make most people HURL!!!

I'm not kidding if you're within 20' you'll puke UNCONTROLLABLY.

Although you may not hear below 20 get close enough,& you'll **** sure FEEL it!

YES FROM A BASS GUITAR
Seems as though he's just EXTREME, all the TIME.

Better to have it than not.

I don't relate to the Double Bass thing, but then again I don't Hunt with a Muzzleloader, wipe my Tail with a Corncob,or take my Deceased pets to the Taxidermist either.

However you are ABSOLUTELY correct in regards to FULL Bass transmission,in relation to Driver size. That's why so many Bassists are pleasantly surprised at the true FULLNESS,(that they've never heard before) of the humble Gstring once they play through one of the 12Ó Aguilar Cab's,(1x,2x,or 4x) for the first time.

The same holds true for the Larger strings. What the 12Ó does for the G,a 18Ó does for E.

4x10's are popular because Fender made them popular eons ago,& 15's are so popular because 10's are SO lacking. For some reason a LOT of people choose to live in the past,in spite of clear advancement.

The reality is 10's simply don't cut it!

So Buy,or Build your 18Ós.Run some SERIOUS wattage through em,Rearrange the Drummers Kit while he attempts to play it,Shake that SNOT Nosed Guitarist,(and his rig) clean off the stage,& unbolt ALL the seats in the first five rows.

Ignore the Micro Minded.YouŐre a Bassist,not a Tenor so play Bass Tones!!!:devilr:

Vredestein Fortezza SuperLite Road Tire doesn't mention any special belts to resist punctures. I like the Conti GP4000 with the Vectran belt which is suppose to be better against punctures and lighter then kevlar and so far I believe it. But no tire is bullet proof not even the heavy Specialized Armadillo All Condition Pro. the Conti is only about 10 to 20 grams heavier then the Vredestein Superlite.

Whatevs.

I've gone through numerous Contis including the 3000s and 4000s, and numerous Vredestein Fortezza SuperLites, under the same riding conditions, year in and year out. The vreds beat the contis for puncture resistance and flatting... substantially. The comparison, in my riiding conditions, is not even close.

I've done this "discussion" with conti lovers so many times here at bikeforums, I've grown to not give two shts if anybody believes my experience or not.

Zeleuo did, and that's all that counts.

Edit to add:

I hope Zeleuo's out there SLAMDANCING on a set RIGHT NOW!!!!! If you're reading this Zeleuo, ROCK ON!!! brother, ROCK ON!!!

Spike: I wasn't coming against you nor mentioned I didn't believe you; I never used the Verds, but I did go their web site and they either failed to mention or don't use any internal belts for flat protection. "IF" they don't use any protection belts then why is their tire better then the Conti that does use a protection belt? Perhaps you can shed some light on this rather then getting all pissy about what someone else says or thinks. Personally I never liked Conti's either but so far these GP4000's with Vectran belt seems to be doing the trick.

Sorry. Heh. This thread GETS me SLAMDANCING! at the DROP of a HAT, brother!

After being a conti GP fan for many years, I was expecting the vreds, which I bought for the light weight, to be only slightly better at not flatting than the conti supersonics I ran occasionally on fast rides, which is to say, I set out on the vreds at first with two spare tubes and a fresh patch kit.

Lo and behold, even when I ran the vreds down to the threads, literally, they held up better on glass, stones, thorns, pot holes, hard cornering and emergency stops than the conti 4000s ever did, by a long shot.

All I can figure is that the toughness of the vreds has something to do with the rubber they use, thread composition, high TPI (threads per inch), and maybe thread bias or other construction features.

(Knock on wood.)

ROCK ON, BROTHER froze!!!!

I did use the Supersonics once for a race, but they were really only good for one race, but I kind of knew that when I bought them, personally for racing purposes I liked the Torelli which use to weigh the same as the Supersonics but lasted longer and seemed to be less susceptible to flats. I haven't used the newer versions of the Torelli since I no longer race so can't report on those, but have heard from others that do race that the Velo Flex Record is better then the Supersonics.

By the way I do rock on at home, after all my belief is that if it's too loud your too old! Which makes my wife too old.

I have used the Vred Tricomps and I am REALLY impressed with them. I have heard a rumor though that these tires are no longer being made in the Netherlands? Anyone hear anything about this?

by the way you have to have at least one word in all caps to PROPERLY reply to this thread.
