2010 Madone's
Soooo I was at my lbs looking at a 09 Madone when a shipment of some assorted Giants came in. One of the guys told me that Trek should be releasing their 2010 bikes soon. I tried to look this up but all I really found was that a couple people have already bought a 2.1 and 2.3 from their lbs. The 4.5 Madone on Treks website is has completely different parts, colors, and wheels than the 2009 bike you can see in the archives but yet says nothing of it being a 2010. So my question is does anyone know when they come out (specifically the 4.5)? Or if this 4.5 on Treks website is the 2010? Thanks.

There's a handful of 2010 Madone 4.5s starting to become available, but there's still stock in most sizes of 2009s at the distributor level which will probably mostly get sold off before Trek starts releasing the 2010s.
That being said, the 2010 is ever so slightly downmarket. SSR instead of Race wheels, 105 rear derailleur.
Should be a few bucks cheaper when it finally arrives.
Don't expect a bike shop to order one in for you if they already have that sized 2009 in stock. That's just not cool.
Oh, and it's black and white instead of blue and white. (I think the blue and white looks better)

Trek have a history of dropping the spec. I don't know if the 2010 frames are a giant leap or if you prefer the colours etc. but if the 2010s are coming in then it's a great time to get a better spec 2009 at a knock down price.
I'm not a Trek hater and I know other manufacturers are also dropping spec slowly but Trek sems to be dropping faster.

I heard from one of my riding buddies that the 2010 Madone 4's will be made overseas starting next year. Anyone know if this is true? If that's the case, it's just another reason to look at an '09...

Madone 4.Xs have always been Asian! The US bikes are the 5 and 6 series. Madone 4s lack the net-molded BB and headset areas, and retain a standard seatpost. They don't ride bad, but the 5 series are way nicer.

And the new 4.7s are blue and white instead of black and white. The website shows SRAM rival front and rear and crank for 2010 instead of full ultegra which is what my 2009 has. Is that an upgrade, downgrade or a wash?

But yes, the 5 series is a whole lot nicer than the 4 series. And if you're worried about a 105 rear der. vs. Ultegra, some bike shops will upgrade you (when buying a new bike) giving you credit toward the part on the bike. So perhaps an Ultegra rear der. will only be $40 to have installed. I dunno, so ask.

I've never been a fan of Trek's prices, but I'm going to try them out when I'm shopping for a new bike (5 Series would be the level I'm looking at).
One thing I can't stand is the Wheelsets. Why don't they put Race X Lites on a seemingly (to me anyway) over-priced $3500 bike?

The Race Lite wheels really aren't bad wheelsets (the 08+ versions). They are lighter than the full Shimano Ultegra wheelset and on-par with a lot of others. Plus, Trek knows that people usually upgrade wheelsets anyway.
Race X Lite wheelsets (08+) are really nice wheels--don't let anyone tell you otherwise. So I can understand why these are held out for the 6 series.
