GP 4 Seasons > Gatorskins?

So I think I read somewhere (may have been the conti website) that the vectran puncture protection is their best. This would make the Gators less puncture resistant right??

Oh and that bullet PROOF tire thread is hilarious ;)

Bulletproof tires and bombproof wheels. On a <20# road racing bike.

Sometimes I think we're way too caught up in our own jargon to see what nonsense it is.

Have a look at the Conti bicycle tire site

Ultra GatorSkin
The kilometre king - HANDMADE IN GERMANY !
http://www.conti-online.com/generato...torskin_en.jpg

A durable carbon black mixture, a well regarded puncture protection system and DuraSkin-anti-cut fabric turn the Ultra GatorSkin into a real long distance runner. In varying widths from 23mm to 32mm it can be used on the way to work as well for training for road races or for sportifs and audax. A durable, tougt tyre at a really nice price. A modern tread design that collects less debris and the expansion of the product line to the new dimension 28-559 for fast MTB street riding.

Grand Prix 4-Season
The result of experiences at Paris-Roubaix - HANDMADE IN GERMANY !

http://www.conti-online.com/generato..._season_uv.gif
Modelled on the Grand Prix 3000, the Grand Prix 4Season provides you with even greater puncture resistance thanks to the Duraskin fabric. Light-weight racing tyres are especially susceptible to damage on the sidewall. Because of this, each year many cyclists are forced to abandon events, for instance in the Paris-Roubaix race. The Duraskin fabric reinforces the sidewall without significantly adding to the weight of the tyre. In 2004, cyclists equipped with Duraskin tyres had 80% fewer flats than those riding on other makes.

The compound has also been modified for all-year-round use. YouŽll cover more kilometres on the Grand Prix 4Season and won't have to worry about the tire compound hardening and thus the grip performance decreasing.

The 23mm, 25mm und 28mm versions also make it possible to select the right tyre for various road qualities and comfort requirements.

I have used both 4-Seasons and Gatorskin tires. I rarely flat with either one (maybe once every 20,000 miles). Supposedly, the 4-Seasons grip a little better in the rain.

Where did you come up with this nonsense?

And to the post with the website: it says it has the double breaker or whatever, but the packaging at the lbs says vectran, I didn't see anything saying which system is the best

I was disappointed to get a flat in the first 200 miles or so on a brand new gp 4 seasons.

Back to Gatorskins, or gp4000s for the shorter rides.

I currently have both on different bikes. Flat resistance is decent, both are durable, I prefer the ride on the 4 Seasons and consider it a better tire overall. GS is often a better value. Neither has much grip in wet, but I slightly prefer th 4S in that dept.

I got a flat on the maiden voyage for my 4 Seasons. It was just bad luck. I've done another couple thousand without incident.

I'm on my 3rd set of 4 Seasons. Still no flat.
