Shaved head = helmet tan

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Shaved head = helmet tan

I've got several tan lines on my head from wearing the helmet. I look like an extra from _____ _____ (put your favourite science fiction franchise here)

I call them tiger stripes, and this is how I (and others) avoid them.

I have a shaved head to, but i never really look at the top of my head. Now you got me trying to look at the top of my head in the mirror.

I get the "devil horn" effect tan if I don't use good sun screen on my forehead. I can use plain old 30 SPF spray-on stuff on my arms and legs but it's not enough for my forehead.

Neutrogena Sport 70 SPF works well there.

I use this everyday. I doesn't burn the eyes when mixed with sweat. Coppertone sport for arms and legs but in the eyes after coming off my head hurts like hell.

Caps and headsweats give me a "bowl" head. White on top and tan around the face.

I call them tiger stripes too and I, for one, think they look cool. Wear them as a badge of honor.

Then again, I am considering getting a black chainring tattoo for my right calf.

I was actually toying with the idea of getting some body modification done on the tanned bits...maybe raise them up so they fit in the vent slots, no more slippage!

I don't think the pics will show that much as I'm doing an agressive tanning regimen to even out the tan, but if it gets a little too babylon5 I might post some

Then there are some of us older guys that get bald-spot sun burn if we don't wear a do-rag. It helps with keeping extra salty sweat out of my eyes as well.

But does that actually stop all tanning? I wear 70 spf sport sun block on my face and forehead, and although I don't burn, I still tan.

No, it doesn't stop tanning. It prevents the day to day burns and stripes from the helmet.

This is sort of what a coolmax did to me a few years back.

Hey, Walmart carries these now, too, for $5 each. They are NASCAR, but hey, for $5, why not?
