Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Since I don't understand this thread, I'll just add my .02 of useless information.
<useless info>
That bike has been sitting in that shop for about 2 years now (last time I was in Chi-town). IIRC, it's CVV's bike.
Funny thing about about Garmin GPS in the city. I took my 305 so I can run while in the city for a business trip and there are so many tall buildings that it couldn't pick up a satellite. It wasn't until I was on the Lakeshore trail that I got any satellite coverage. I believe the sales rep said they have to use some type of antenna on the building for their GPS units on the sales floor to pick up a satellite.

Freds... not Freds... either way, those guys could ride all of us and anyone we know into the ground. On their recovery ride.

Hmmm....I can not tell. Let's just say that his roommate - another guy on the team - gave the unit to his brother....who I know...who I recruited on to my team...who is my friend...who I was showing how to program the unit for auto lap at the start of our race this morning.....

.....hypothetically.

Hypothetically this roomate of the Pate is no longer in Europe but on his way to join a few of his teammates at our local races (Stuporweak)....since he's more of a classics instead of a tour guy....

....hypothetically.

Indeed. I love it because it is spot on, run by a local racer who actually gets out there and races, frequently quotes and references my blog and the picture on the entry I linked to is of my race and I know half the guys in the shot.....

.....I was OTB.....

....of course..

You do know Garmin makes only two bike products and like a bajillion other GPS items as well, right? It's like buying anything from a non-bike-store: If it has anything to do with bikes, always assume you know more than the person selling it.

Psimet, were you the guy that once told a story, about a Garmin team member's brother, who always got team gear sent to him, by said brother, that he wore all the time. Which earned him the nickname "Garmin", a nickname that became humorous because this rider frequently got himself lost on rides?

One of the funniest stories I've ever read.

That's what I do every time I step into a Best Buy. And I even WORKED for the company for 5 years, so I *know* the IQs of most of the employees that they hire.

I thought I had read somewhere that they have critical points in each stage mapped and alarmed to remind the riders.

"Turn Left after 200m."

"Slight right after 150m"

"Begin leadout"

Maybe.

He later received a Garmin from his brother that says "the Pate" on the back of it....

Given Garmin's name is plastered all over the TDF jerseys, how can they NOT have one on their bikes?

Besides, maybe the units used in the TDF have some secret technology unavailable to the public.

And that's ignoring the eTrex line which works very well on a road bike. What a confusing thread.

My bad, I apparently can't count. All my in-laws work for Garmin in the avionics department, so that's usually what I associate Garmin with.

I have no idea what this post is about.... Whats wrong with a 60mm stem on that rim? Does the 60mm stem length add weight or cause aero wheel drag? whats the deal???

That's a lot of extra weight with that nut and extra long valve stem.

Useless thread. That bike is not a team bike, its a store bike. The edge data is very useful. A lot of non-Garmin teams have edge units on their bikes.
