Notices
Road Cycling It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle. -- Ernest Hemingway

might buy new bike tonight

Has anyone noticed the Motobecane LeChampion CF on special at Bikes Direct right now? The idea of a slightly more comfortable version of the Immortal intrigues me. I typically ride 16-20 mph average on 30-50 mile rides. I'd say racing is not out the question, but would not be my primary reason for biking.

Any thoughts on this bike for me?

Please do not turn this into "I HATE/LOVE BD" thread....I currently have an entry level BD road bike and am in desperate need of an upgrade. I feel I got my money's worth from them before and am prepared to take on any risks associated with BD for another bike. I'd love to own a cannondale or trek but I simply do not have the money.

Yeah, just a person who's first and only post just happens to be about buying a BD bike. Let me guess, you'll be back in a couple days saying that you bought it, and it's so awesome and great and BD is the best.

If you have $1400 you CAN afford a Cannondale or Trek. Whether you choose to or not is another question?

Hi Mike!
That can't be Mike. The spelling, grammar and use of punctuation are above the level, judging from past posts, of which he is capable!

Still, these newbie posts are funny, and they probably move bikes, so.....

WILLIAMSET: where are you located? I have one of these and you can try mine before you buy!

You know so much about the product that I'm surprised you don't know this:

Money Back Guarantee

We know you will be happy with your bike

If for any reason you are not*, let us know and we'll make it right or you may return it.
Return it in original condition - new and packaged as you received *within 30 days of the purchase date for a refund or exchange.

It's about that size on the site, too!

Are you in Columbus? I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, but I would take you up on the offer. If so, excuse my ignorance.

that is an awesome looking bike for the price, IF I didn't have the hookups that I've got now, I'd be all over that bike.

From what I can tell, it comes ready to race out of the box.

Also, this same bike has been discussed to death in other posts already.

I presume you mean this one:

Yes, that is the bike. Despite searching, I've only seen talk of the immortal and the titanium Lechampion. Part of my concern is I know of no history with this carbon frame from others on the site. Please post a link if you can find one.

Please back this up with data. If it's the one I think it is, it comes with Aksiums, for starters.

I wasn't convinced it had a frame geometry that was ideal for racing? Can someone please comment? This is one of my concerns in purchasing

While they're not in the same league I had an analogy in my head that the LeChampion CF is the Immortal what the Cannodale Carbon Synapse is to the Carbon Six. Would it be crazy to race either the lechampion or the carbon synapse?

And I've *gasp* placed in the money in races with it too!

Well, I went to buy the bike on Wednesday night and despit showing instock on BD's website, it came up as out of stock when I added to the cart. As dissapoitned as I was, It might be a blessing in disguise...

That morning I got an email from Performance with a deal for a Scattante CFR Race w/ basically the same specs as the BD mike. I went to the store to get fitted and a bike in my size is getting shipped to the store. I'll have in 7 days or so for a couple hundred more than BD. A true LBS would be better, but Performance will still have customer service that is night and day better than BD...

I've read good things about the Scattante. Anyone have first hand experience?
