New bike with retro look

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The Cinelli Supercorsa gets my vote. Now tell me this, are you man enough to put a San Marco Regal, Rolls, or Concor saddle and toe clips on it?

"on a racebike atm"- but the OP said nothing about race bikes.

Also check out the Raleigh Sojourn.

Firstly, a sloping top tube, no matter how slight, kills the retro look.

Forget alum & ti & certainly cf, skinny steel tubes are the standard. Steel fork is virtually mandatory. Lugs are a plus.

So far the green Bianchi, chrome Waterford, & the Supercorsa are the top runnerups to the pack leader, that Fuji Connoisseur. That's hot!

It does appear to have a horizontal top tube, at least. But the oversize tubing, unraked fork, &etc are too modern.

Here is the latest incarnation of my Cinelli Supercorsa - it's so skinny and retro most modern roadies do double takes from across the road.

There may be a Ti option. Look for an earlier Litespeed Catalyst or Classic.

Here are my 1994 Catalyst and 1998 Appalachian, which have a somewhat retro look.

BTW, I've always thought the Fuji was a beautiful retro.

Actually, I think the Waterford is polished stainless steel.

Actually you're absolutely right . . . that's what I get for reacting in haste. Next tim I'll play it safe and just say "the shiny bike".

Torelli: Corsa Strada, Countach, or Nitro Express.

All of which can be painted just about any which way. Want to build one so bad.

Check your local Raleight dealer and ask about their 2010's specifically.

I really like the Fuji, but can I have it with the Clubman fork? I hate straight bladed forks. I am sure they work fine, I just don't like the look.

Some nice looking rides in this thread.

That said, I'd probably look for a used bike of early- to mid 90s vintage. You should be able to find a specimen in excellent condition for well under a grand. I paid $800 for a mid-90s lugged Landshark with DA 8s and the same for a Serotta Colorado of similar vintage with 8s Chorus. The 'shark was in absolutely beautiful condition and needed nothing; the Serotta needed some work so my total investment was a little over $1K.

I'd say pretty much any steel frame can be made to look retro. I wasn't going for a retro look on mine, but I've been complimented on it looking "classy".

About as retro as you can get, but outfitted with modern componentry.

Anyone who's still building lugged steel frames will put you in the ballpark. They aren't cheap, but craftsmanship never is. Maybe look at Curt Goodrich or Dave Kirk. They're just two of the guys who are still building nice lugged steel frames. Waterford as well. The above posted Cinelli Supercorsa, for that Italian mystique.

A threaded stem certainly helps with that retro look, as does a non-sloping toptube.
