New bike with retro look

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

New bike with retro look

Any tips on new bikes that have a retro look to them? Looking for a retro looking frame, but I'd rather avoid spending endless hours on ebay to score something vintage...

Clearly many of you guys have no idea about retro. Atleast Mike V knows his history.

The paint job on my Colnago is a remake of Eric Zabel's Colnago when he was world champ about 18yrs ago - it was then re-done for Erik's last year as a pro - you would have seen it at last years tour.

The OP asked for a new bike with a retro look and I don't think there is a more modern bike/retro paint job on a racebike atm. Saronni same.

Now if you want to be proper retro - it has to be lugged and have a level top tube. Maybe even downtube shifters...and don't even think about clinchers.

Easy to do...Just go to your local custom steel builder and get one built.

Like either of mine?
Second one is not set up as a race bike, but could definitely be set up as a high mileage light touring bike.
Both are lugged steel.

Colnago call it a 'Zabel' but its based on the colour scheme on Freddy Maertens Colnago that he won the worlds on in 1981.

A little pricey but you could build up a Pegoretti Luigino:

I think the 2009 Colnago Master X-Light, in deep red or Molteni orange, is pretty nice too. Only $2500 for the frameset from various US vendors, and as little as $1900 from Total Cycling in the UK.
