Pumping presta valve in gas stations
Hi everybody.
I am form Turkey. I have a road bike. I travel around the country. I want to pump my wheels in 100psi. I want to be sure that i pump them in 100psi. I don't want to use a hand-held pump. I want to pump my wheels in gas stations. I have an presta valve adaptor. In normal air connectors it works well. However, the air connectors in air inflators in gas stations in Turkey is "twin connector". Most of the air inflators are PCL with twin connectors as air connectors. I cannot pump my wheels with these twin connectors. Does any know these connectors? and can anyone pump his road bike with PCL air inflator? I wanted to put pictures of my problem but i cannot do it. thank you very much... |
Huh? The twin connectors in Turkey don't work?

I'm not a fan of the air compressors for my tires so I just carry a mini pump and a gauge.

Using gas station compressors is asking for trouble (i.e. detonated tubes). You're best off getting a good pump like a road morph that you can attach to your frame. Those will give you 100psi no problem.

Most compressors are not even able to pump road bike wheels up to pressure. I've tried three different compressors (two domestic and one fuel station compressor) and they were not able to pump my tyres to 8bar (~115psi). Even if they would be able to do that it would be a huge hassle imo. because road tires lose pressure quite fast and I personally pump them up before everytime I ride. With a proper pump its very easy, my tires fill up with like 7 pump actions from flat to 115psi.

I had a gas station in my neighborhood years ago that had a psi setting dial on the pump and it worked great for my bike tires. Even 100 psi. I had a pump, too, but I could use the gas station in a pinch (with a schrader adaptor) if I had to.
I have no idea what a PCL adaptor is. |
