Congratulations on the promotion!
At 3k there are so many choices. Buy one that "moves" you. You're going to have to try hard to buy a bad frame at that price. |

You, being a big boy, should try to get a Storck Absolutist. List is $3200, but sacrifices must be made. ;)
http://reviews.roadbikereview.com/bl...ist-09-review/ I demo'd an Absolutist, and I don't think I'm big enough to appreciate the build. And I'm 6', 160. It felt like a block of wood to me. I think a bigger guy would be able to light it up with this frame. You would noodleize an Orca. A buddy of mine who is very powerful has an Orbea Opal. That's prbly what would suit you. He's got HED Jet 60's with the big boy build. Ignore the "custom build" crap. The 2010 Canondale SuperSix might also be a good match for you. Btw, I've got a Scott CR1 SL and a Parlee Z4. You don't want either one of those. The Scott is super light and has a massive front fork, like the Storck. But it is a Hogpen Gap type of bike. A vertical rocket. And the Parlee is far too well mannered. Even for me. You will be fine on an Orca at 180. |

Calfee Tetra Pro can be had around 3k for frame and fork. Different options/paint combos may go over the 3k mark... but you will have an awesome frame. Believe me

For a $3K frameset I'd probably go custom or get a Ridley Noah. However, that's just opinion. |
The Pinarello dealer here has the Paris frameset on sale for $3150 (with headset and seatpost). That's what I would get for sure, except that I just can't figure out how to get it into the house without my wife noticing....

At that price point I'd be torn between a Van Nicholas Zephyr or being on the lookout for a year-end Colnago deal.

Since you like to sprint, go for the Felt F1 Sprint frame.
Seems to do well for Farrar. And it's only $2600. |
LOOK 585 Ultra for $2098 is a great deal on a stiff frame. No 55cm left, though.
