Canted footbeds

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Canted footbeds

Recently read about Specialized shoes in regards to how the sole of the shoe is canted, providing an angle to better support how the knee moves in connection with the foot when you pedal. Does anyone know where one may get custom inserts to slip into shoes that may provide the same as the Specialized shoes?

These come with specialized BG footbeds. You can probably buy them separately too. Lemond cleat wedges do the same thing.

Specialized sells 'em, but you also have to buy their footbeds. A few companies sell either shims that go between your cleat and your sole or wedges that go between your footbed and the sole.

Bikefit In The Shoe Wedges are the original designed by bike-fitting expert Paul Swift. One wedge provides a true 1.5 degrees of varus tilt. The wedges are reversible so they can be used either in the right or left shoe. In The Shoe Wedges are quick and easy to use. They are also a viable alternative when cleat wedges may not be the best choice with your pedal system. The In The Shoe Wedges fill in volume if your shoe are loose fitting. They are not recommended if your shoes are tight or already fit quite snugly.
