singing and riding

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

singing and riding

I had my music playing in one ear and I was singing along when this guy passes me and gives me a funny look. I thought nothing of it until another few cyclists did the same.

Was I out of tune? Who else sings along to the music whilst riding?

I wish I had the extra breath / energy to sing. I wonder how much energy you're actually using by doing that?

If you can sing while riding, you're doing it wrong.

I have been known to sing a capella reggae on brevets...

Only when solo, however.

Did you expect them to slow down and listen to your awesome voice? Or maybe join you in a quartet?

I do occasionally but stop when people are near, well depending on how hard I'm working. If I'm head down, powering along I don't bother stopping because the singing is under my breath.

Well I'm sure that they didn't appreciate that you were singing some Britney Spears songs.

My 9 year old daughter is always singing when she rides... even when she is climbing relatively steep grades at good speeds and passing many struggling adults.

When she isn't singing she is often yelling... "you call this a hill?"

I know if I can sing while I am riding I am not going hard enough...

Ever see that movie where Eddie Murphy sings "Roxanne"?

That's what you sounded like.

One time I was singing the Blues when another cyclist said " what are you doing singing the Blues, man you cause the Blues". Singing career over.

Are you being facetious or do you know nothing about proper training?

I would take that to mean I was crushing souls and start singing louder.

I was riding past this hot girl yesterday and humming pretty load. I got a weird look from her. I know my humming isn't that bad. lol. I realized a few minutes later that I had been humming the tune from the Enzite male enhancement commercial. It's not my fault its catchy

I'd get a weird look if I were humming a "pretty load," too.

My music doesn't have words, so unless I start audibly saying "uhn tiss uhn tiss uhn tiss uhn tiss"... I'm good. But I really don't see anything wrong with singing. I sing loudly in my car... whats the difference?

teach bailey to sing whilst you chauffeur him around. it's only fair.

I usually listen to "hard" rock and when I get hyped, I DO notice that I yell/sing the chorus...

Others must think I have Turrets Syndrome.

it's funny how people say you shouldn't be able to sing when putting in effort. I like to sing "1,2,3,4,5..once i caught a fish alive" if going up something steep to get a rhythm going, but it's been a while since i did any climbing.
