Sram Rival Junior Gearing

Anyone find it a pain to run a 53/15 to comply with junior gearing since SRAM doesn't offer a 52T front chainring? I'm interested in getting the rival group but idk how much of a disadvantage running a gear significantly smaller that the normal 52/14 gearing would be...any opinions on how it works too?

It doesn't matter what SRAM offers for a chainring. If you want a 52t chain ring, then put a 52t chain ring on there.

That said, I'll do the obligatory HTFU. Why someone would want a lower high gear is beyond me. Yeah, spin out at 30 mph, be my guest.

I don't get why you would tell him to HTFU, junior gearing is required to race for us. It's not like we want to use junior gearing, its a pain in the ass.

That's lame. Didn't realize it's a requirement to run such gear ratios. I'm going to "C" myself out of this one.

most juniors around here just run a 45t chainring. that way they can use a standard 12 tooth cassette

I went with a standard 35-39 front chainring setup, then used a Shimano 15-25 cassette in the rear. Works well for me.

SRAM offers a 52 ring, at least in the Red. Not sure about Rival or Force though?
