Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cannondale feedback appreciated

I am looking at a couple of bikes local to me and it is just so complicated when you don't know new bikes but ...one is an '08 Cannondale Six 13 6 for $900 bucks (60 miles on it) and the other is an '04 Cannondale R1000R almost new for $1100. Except for the components they seem like comparable bikes but I guess what I'm hoping for is someone with experience with the bikes to give me some feed back.

Much appreciated!!

Mike

I'd take the six13, especially if you want a slightly more comfy ride.

Bikes: More than 1, but, less than S-1

Are both the same size? And, are they the correct size for you? Those are the first two questions that need to be answered. A bike that doesn't fit, no matter the cost, is of less value than one that does.

Even though it's got Tiagra, I'd take that Six13 (again, if it fits).

They're both good frames, though, even though the R1000's CAAD7 is a couple incremental-generations older.
