my first "real" fall ~~ WITH PIX YO!!!
It was going to happen eventually because I like to push it in the corners, well today I hit some dirt/gravel/stuff in a borderline sharp turn at 25 ish, my back wheel slid out from under me and I went sliding across the asphalt. I kind of sat on the ground for a second taking in what happened, a rider who was behind me asked me if I was ok which brought me to the realize I was sitting in the opposite lane. So I got up gave my bike a quick once over, squirted off my wounds with my water bottle and rode 25 miles back home.
The damage to the bike wasn't too bad: no paint was damaged, my RD is toast it pretty much was before the crash anyway, my brifter appears to have taken the brunt of the fall as it got pushed to the inside and scraped up pretty well. I think the bars made it out with only scratches because they appear to still be straight. As long as the brifter is still functional It shouldn't be too expensive to get her road ready once again.
One disappointment is walgreens not having tegaderm, the whole ride home I was looking forward to trying it out, but they didn't have it so I had to settle for plain old bandages and gauze. Also my sugoi bib's are trash, they were only $30, but damn were they comfortable. Anyway I need another beer so I will leave you with the promised "PIX":

Congrats. At least you didn't "Jens Voight" and have your face take the brunt. Glad you're OK.

That's a really well developed sock tan! Glad it didn't do anything worse, but that one on the front of your shin looks particularly unpleasant (might be the extra blood leaking out).

Glad to hear your OK, looks like some pretty good rash.
I had my first real run in with the pavement a couple weeks ago, thanks to an SUV. Not so much rash for me, but bruised up my back pretty good.
take it easy on the beer, my friend brought me out the night of my crash and hang over + stiffness and rash is not fun.

Hey all HTFU'ing aside. You really want to make sure that is clean and covered.
If you can get your hands on some Tegaderm, it would GREATLY speed-up the healing process.
Get thee to a shower, wash with soap and shave the hair off. Then ideally Tegaderm but if not available, tiny dabs of Neosporin and something to keep it sealed/moist.

I have heard over and over again that the first wreck is enivatable. it really sucks that it has to be that way. anyhow, looks like you were damaged worse than the bike.
I hope you recover fast, heal well, and back in the saddle soon!!

Ouch. I'm sorry man. I hear ya.
I hit gravel doing about 20 mph on my commuter bike last september. Tore up my shoulder and forearm. One spot on my shoulder looks like I'm a burn victim. Skin is kinda white and ripply if you know what I mean.
You'l be wearing sweats the next couple of days. Don't even imagine wearing anything tight, or rough. Loose and soft is the way to go.

I used these bandaids the last time that I got a road rash: https://www.amazon.com/Johnson-Advanc.../dp/B001E96M26 . I picked them up from the local CVS. They were the best bandaids ever...
