Campagnolo acquired by Japanese company?
http://www.bike-eu.com/news/3501/rum...ampagnolo.html
Rumours on Campagnolo There are strong rumours going around in Europe as well as in Asia that Campagnolo has been sold. From various sources this trade journal heard that the sale of the complete company already took place. Asked whether he could confirm or deny the sale, Campagnolo’s Marketing & Communication director Lorenzo Taxis said: “I am not going to give you an official answer on this, as this is not an official matter inside the company.” Sources indicate that a Japanese company should have bought Campagnolo and with that of course Shimano springs to mind. A Shimano Europe spokesman said that he heard that rumours too, but that he could definitely deny any involvement of the Japan based component maker. Published @ 28-07-2009 Author : Jack Oortwijn |
That's it. It's a New World Order. Time for Armageddon.
Time to start stocking up on Made in Italy Campy's!
OOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I cannot imagine the EU Antitrust folks would allow a sale of Campagnolo to Shimano.

:innocent: then again, maybe Microshift bought Campagnolo. Micronolo? Campag-no-shift? |
but seriously, I think FSA bought them. There have been rumors about a full FSA group for a while now.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Even better.......
If true...they will eventually die...I predict.
Have they detected seismic activity near Vincenza?
If this is true, Tulio is surely spinning in his grave. |
If true, better line up the shrinks to talk the Campy faithful off the ledge.
OMG! I may have to go SRAM.
I am burning my Campagnolo Jersey tonight...
why the sadness? let's celebrate.
Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is great from a spit-in-the-face-of-hipsters perspective. The next time one of them throws "shimaNO" in my face I'll throw it right back...
I can see it now!
"The Record and SR groups will still be made in Italy...." |
meh who cares where it's made... they've been shark-jumping for a while.
as long as they stick to building products that last a long time and are user-serviceable and have the "racer-first" attitude, then Japanese ownership should be a benefit. |
i hope this means a lot more choice and less compatibility restrictions.
on reflection, i hope it wasn't shimano. this could mean prices going up. go FSA!
I thought FSA was Taiwanese, not Japanese. Happy to be corrected.
maybe the article is wrong.

As others have said, there is absolutely no way that the EU would let Shimano buy Campagnolo.
My guess is Tektro, but only because I've been telling people that Tektro bought Campy for years. |
Bring back SunTour!
Maybe Mavic can fill the continental gruppo spot now? |
