Do all years' models of this saddle have the cutout in the shell?

Mine has the cutout and it's only a few months old.

I think i figured it out

the carbon shell model with braided rails has the cutout.

the nylon shell model with braided rails does not.

Can others confirm?

I have one that I got in the beginning of 2008 and one that I just got and they both have the cutout. I believe it is only the complely carbon shelled versions with that cutout.

@phallenthoul: do you have the carbon/kevlar shell, or the nylon shell?

There are definitely two versions. You can usually tell pretty easily by the retail price. I'm not sure if you can get the carbon with kevlar/carbon weave with ti or other metal rails.

Mine is carbon railed and has the carbon shell with weave. I know they still make a nylon shelled version with the carbon rails, too.

From what I've read the carbon cx w/ weave version is slightly shorter in the nose, clearly has less padding than the standard arione, and shows it in the weight. Mine weighs 153 grams. I'm not totally sold on it, preferring the aliante more, but will try it some more before ditching it.

Got one off fleabay for a bit over $100, we'll see how it works when the new bike gets here.

i think it's the carbon shell...at least that's what it says....i don't know..it's dark in the office so i can't really see

Crash, either:
1) Your saddle is an anomaly with a carbon/kevlar shell and no cutout;
or
2) your saddle actually has a nylon shell.
or
3) I'm way more confused than I was when I started this thread.

Does your saddle say "CARBON" on the nose, underneath the word ARIONE?

I had the Nylon shell, no cutout.

yes it does...it says carbon cx

i believe it is the nylon shell version. it is carbon braided rails though and the top part is all one piece not 3 sewn together.
