120mm stem to 110mm or 100mm?
Am I going to notice much of a handling difference? I just seems like im about 20 mm off on my reach. Maybe only 10. I've read a lot about shortening your stem and you're handling being different, is that just with the way short stems, or will it affect me too?

I swapped my stock stem out for a 90. I assume the stock was 110-120. My bike handles fine with no twitchiness. I would assume this swap would make the steering "quicker", but I didn't notice.

Stem length has about 0 affect on handling (within normal stem length range).
Handlebar width on the other hand will make a bit of difference

I used to like smaller stems, and rode with a 90mm on my first bike. I was never very comfortable riding in the wind, especially down hills and I thought that the smaller stem would make me more stable.
I rode with a 100mm on my new bike up until the other day. I did notice that I wanted my reach out just a touch more, and a slight bit higher. I read a lot of threads suggesting that longer stems would make the bike feel more stable, but I always had the idea that it was the other way around.
I swapped out to a 110mm stem and could tell a night and day difference. I went for a 25 mile ride on the coast that was pretty windy at times, but felt completely stable. It just goes to show that small adjustments can make a big difference sometimes. I am sure it had to do with better weight distribution resulting in better balance and control.
