How much is an Ultegra 6600 gruppo worth now??

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

How much is an Ultegra 6600 gruppo worth now??

On competitivecyclist, they show the 6700 for $1458 and the 6600 for only $790. I've also found some 6600 groupsets online for $699. Is this a good deal? I also found a new complete groupset with wheels, saddle, and stem on craigslist of the 6600 for $1000.

What is a fair price for a 6600 gruppo, new??

6600 group? Nothing, it's completely outdated. Send me whatever you have and I will dispose of it for you at no additional charge.

I've been looking for some parts, either 105 or Ultegra, and the Ultegra shifters are getting ~$130-190 on Ebay still. I'd say there is still a pretty good demand.

I wouldn't pay more than $450 for the FULL gruppo.

Not sure if this is useful information, but I sold some really good condition 6600 parts on eBay recently here is what they sold for:

Crankset = $80
12-25t cassette = $35
Shifters = $110
Brake calipers = $75

Add another $60 for FD and RD, you have your 8-piece group for about $360. I think that's about right.

If you could find a 6600 group for that money, it would be a steal. pbk's prices have gone through the roof. I bought an Ultegra group last year for a bit under $500 and it's now pushing $800.

Here's what I pieced together, NEW:

Crank and BB $160
Brifters $120
Brake Calipers $83 (total for both)
FD $35
RD $30
Cass $30
chain $22

total $480 including shipping from multiple places, and that was before 6700 had been released.

Crank/BB combo, Brakes, and FD from ebay, seperate sellers.

Brifters from nashbar, marked down to $150 and 20% off $200 order
RD from someone here
cass and chain from niagracycle

keep in mind I picked these up over 6 months or so, slowly upgrading my bike. If you want to buy now and bolt on next week, it'll take more $$$.

is it worth paying a LOT more money for the new ultegra 6700 over buying the 6600 for much less money?? I know its all relative, but it seems that the ultegra 6700 retails for double the 6600 is now ($1300 vs. $600). It isn't THAT much better, is it??

NO, it isn't. But someone is paying it so they're going to keep charging it.

Let me know where you can pick it up at that price. I need some spares and the STIs alone are pushing £200-£250 here, RRP is £303.

I hate the price increase, it's killing me.

The 6700 brifters are a lot better... better ergonomics, adjustable reach, and you can now run all cables under the bar tape a la Dura Ace.

Everything else does not seem like a big improvement. But of course, the 6700 brifters cost an arm and a leg. Or maybe your first-born.

Have you tried Rival? If not, I suggest a test ride before you buy 6700.

+1. As light as 6700, great ergonomics, and lots cheaper.

Note that some ppl like to go with a Shimano chain and cassette with SRAM groups, though.

I think I will do that. I've never tried anything other than the shimano lineup.

It's very "mechanical" feeling after using Shimano. Some people love it and some don't, but for the price difference, it's worth a test drive.
