A Noobs first week in the books...

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

A Noobs first week in the books...

Here's my stats for the week... rode 5x...

Count: 5 activities
Distance: 55.38 mi
Time: 03:38:56 hh:mm:ss
Elevation Gain: 3,318 ft
Avg Elevation Gain: 664 ft
Avg Speed: 15.2 mph
Avg Distance: 11.08 mi
Max Speed: 37.1 mph
Max Distance: 15.51 mi

Nothing to brag about i'm sure, as i feel "slow" out there most of the time, but i'm new to the sport, and will continue to improve... it's not so much the cardio end of it, as it's the climbing and burning in my quads on even those slight uphill climbs...

i haven't done any real "climbing" yet either, so i'm just working my way into the saddle at this point...

that's a nice start. Just keep it up an everything will increase and get easier. you can't just hop on a bike one day out of the blue and do 100miles averaging 23mph ad climbing 15Kft. Like Warren said, you have to start someplace.

that's the attitude i'm taking... i can tell you that this is kind of addicting... i felt like i could have gone farther today, but didn't want to overdo it... did the 15.5 today...

i can say that i think i will be upgrading my bike next spring when the riding season starts again, or if i can get a deal on a 2010 at the end of this year i'll snatch it up and be ready to go next year...

i got a CAAD9-7 but have buyers remorse and think i should have gone with the better components of the 9-5, but i'll just ride the wheels off this for the rest of this year...

the best deals on bikes can be had at the end of the model year, much like cars. I bought a leftover 2006 trek in Febuary of 2007 for almost 50% off.
