There must be a catch (Atlanta Craigslist add)

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

There must be a catch (Atlanta Craigslist add)

..but if you ride a 55cm and live near Atlanta, maybe you should check this out just to make sure? Pinarello Prince w/ Red, Fulcrum zero... $1500?
I know if it seems to go to be true then it probably is, but you never know till you try right? If it was close to my size I would certainly have a look at it...

I don't recall seeing palm trees in Atlanta last time I was there. And it seemed less flat but I could be mistaken.

Hmm, I didn't really look at the background. I mean I agree that something must be off with this, but there are flat places in Atlanta, and: http://www.atlantapalms.com/faq.html#qq1 .
Also bikes can be moved..

That same ad was on CL in Austin, Sacramento, Chicago, Houston, plus was removed from eBay. I don't know what is going on, but it sure smells bad.

I don't think anything on that bike costs just $1500. But the ad doesn't say anything about taking off your shirt so maybe it's okay. No, I'm lying. It's definitely a scam.

The only reason it was removed from the other sites was because someone jumped on this once in a lifetime deal and the seller felt that it was his obligation to retract the offer.

Oof, best to stay away I suppose. I just don't really understand the point. What kind of scam is he trying to get at? Surely he doesn't think someone is going to just mail him 1500 w/o holding the bike themselves..
Guess I was just hoping it was a freak incident where some super rich dude felt like being extra nice after he realized he didn't care about cycling. Oh well.

I was up in DC also. Made it 15 mins here before getting flagged.

On CL if it seems too good to be true it usually is. And yes, they expect you'll get blinded by the deal and pay first. It only takes 1 stupid person and they ARE out there.
