Is there anything I have missed?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Is there anything I have missed?

I bought a used Late 90's Kona Kapu. I spent the first several months dialing in the fit. Having finally solved that, I am looking to start improving the components in the coming months. I want to start with wheels. at 6'4", 230 pounds, and do not compete, outside of with friends on weekend rides. I like the look of some of the sportier wheels, but recognize the limitations of both my size and the crap roads that I ride on. I have pretty well settled on the open pro/ultegra set up, but wanted to make one last check before i shelled out my coin. Are there any other noteworthy wheel sets that will be so strong yet not weigh me down(further) on spirited rides through the hills?

I like Velocity Fusions better than Open Pros.
