Difference in Campy and Shimano?
Hi guys out there,
What is the difference between fixing up a campy groupset and a shimano groupset? Is there anything extra to take note of? Thanks. Regards, Yangster |
I have Campy on my road bike, and Shimano on my touring bike.
Best FD shifting: Campy Best RD shifting: Shimano Best brifters: Campy Brifter serviceability: Campy serviceable, Shimano disposable The touring bike is used for steep mountain climbs with a heavy rider, and has a mix of road/mtn parts that provide low gearing that can't be duplicated with Campy parts. |
hmm, what i mean is when fixing up the parts on to a frame, is there any difference on the method to put them on ?

Campy has 11-speed
Shimano has Di2 /thread. |
There was a rumor that Campagnolo is going to be a Japanese or Taiwanese company soon. The difference will end at this point.

Pretty much the same as far as mounting goes.

The Shimano can put out more watts than the Campagnolo.

I was really hoping for an internet slap fight about this. I used to moderate a cycling forum and there was a huge unfriendly debate about the relative merits of each. There were deletions, warnings, people pretending to be a different person to back up their original claims, and bannings. It's funny now, but at the time it was simply annoying.
To answer your question, there isn't much difference in the approach to how both models work, are installed, or function. Do you have a more specific question? |
I think you would need different tools for the bottom bracket. Otherwise common tools will work (allen & torx wrenches, box ends & screwdrivers). Not sure if that answers your question because you're not very specific.

Campagnolo sounds a lot classier.

Campy is made by artisans of cycling components. Shimano is made by scientist who constantly test their products until they get the best out of what they can.
