CAAD9 Frame differences?
Building a new crit bike and I have finally given up trying to find a CAAD9 frame and settled that I may need to just buy a bike and strip it, parting it out and hope I get decent money for the parts. My question is..between the different CAAD9 models, is there any difference in the frames as in lower quality Al, welds, stay geometry, etc? Is it only the component groups that are different?
I am thinking that I am better off with the 105 version as I stand a better chance of selling the parts quickly (am putting SRAM red on it along with some of the wheels I already have.) but I really don't want to part with $1300 to get a $400 frame.
For such a popular frame why cannot they just sell frames? Its stupid. I might actually just go with a Cervelo Soloist Team frame to avoid the trouble of parting out the Cannondale. My time is actually worth a lot to me.

The frames are all the same. The differences are in the components added to the frames and the decals and paint schemes. By the way, I feel your pain. I was in the market a few months ago for a CAAD 9 Cannondale as well. They used to sell CAAD 9s with higher level groups but now those components have been delegated to the carbon models. Now the highest level is 105. 105 is a great group and commands a lot of respect like the other Shimano groups, but it's an entry-level race group.

Yeah it is really frustrating. There is a CAAD 8 on ebay but its got a flaming custom paint scheme, and honestly, I am not fast enough for flames.
Cannondale needs to push the carbon frames for the profits though I suppose. It would be really nice if they would just sell CAAD frames bare though. I have enough stuff in my garage to build 2 bikes, minus frames so it all just sits there and collects dust.

I was thinking along the same lines. I also checked into the frame trade-in policy, and I think a CAAD9 frame would cost me $600 if I swap in one of my 20+ year old Cannondale frames.

Bike ≠ Car ≠ Ped.
The only option I know of is a BB30 bottom bracket that's new this year for the CAAD9. Other than that, they're just trim levels, like how you can get a Honda Civic CX, LX, EX, etc -- same frame, different parts.

2010 version has bb30 and a better fork
2009 version COULD have bb30 (likely no) and has older fork
<2008 are old fork and no bb30
afaik.

How much are you asking? 54 is my size. Im actually lucky that I can be comfortable on a 52 to a 56, just very, very average porportions I guess. So a 54 is what I usually ride
